Eric is a leading Independent Investment Adviser (IIA) in the UK public and private pension sectors. He has extensive investment consultancy experience with asset owner funds in the UK, Europe and internationally. Eric is a past Head of Customer Consultancy within State Street, and past Head of Research & Consultancy at the WM Company. Many of his hard-line – and inherently cynical – investment views have been driven by decades of empirical evidence of funds’ actual results.

Amongst many of his pet hates is the lack of challenge towards anyone, but especially consultants, who try to persuade funds to follow ‘their way’ (eg LDI, de-risking, equity-protection, plethora of alternatives) as if it were the only way. A more critical evaluation can often see that while the service provider and product purveyor have strong vested interests the benefit to the fund is often marginal or even missing.

Eric’s award-winning clients are mainly Local Authorities, spread geographically and by size with the largest over £20 billion. They cover a broad spectrum of investment philosophies, investment strategies and implementations.
